Day 2 of Fire Rescue East brought more reunions of old friends and making of new friends. We so appreciate our good friend, Chief Derryl O'Neal of Minneola FD who has been such a blessing to OS91 for several years now!

Speaking of friends: our partners at the Fellowship of Christian Firefighters International were about 8 booths down from us, so we were able to borrow Psalm 91 books when we ran out! We were blessed to see again our friend, LT Tommy Nieman, author of Sirens Of The Cross http://www.tommyneiman.com/ and Regional head of FCFI Florida as well as Captain Chaplain Trevor Nelson, head of the Jacksonville FCFI, who blessed OS91 by his presence and his support at our 4th Annual Tribute to Honor America's 1st Responders. And what a wonderful family he has!

OPERATION SAFETY 91 is currently attending one of our very favorite Conventions of the year, Fire Rescue East being held at Daytona Beach, FL January 20 - 21, 2012. Our very own Winter Garden Fire Chief John Williamson, the President of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association http://www.ffca.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=1 paved the way for our attendance and we certainly are among friends! We love our Firefighters, and they are so appreciative of our efforts! We had wonderful moments today when Firefighters came up to our booth and told us what they did with the Psalm 91 cards and books after they received them last year. And, of course, we made many more new friends today.

A few Firefighters came back this year for "seconds" so to speak. This wonderful Firefighter pictured above, picked up a Psalm 91 book for herself last year and ended up sending it to a soldier in Afghanistan. This year, she came back to restock!

OS91 brings Battalion Chief Seigler to speak

to New Hope Christian Academy Students

Longtime partner and friend of Operation Safety 91, Orange County Fire Battalion Chief Scott Seigler agreed to come to to speak to the students of New Hope Christian Academy of Minneola, FL, http://www.newhopeca.org/ this afternoon. It was wonderful! This is part of Operation Safety 91's School Visit Program to educate our youth about Responders, what they do and the risk involved in their professions.

Chief Seigler spoke about the calling of a Firefighter, and what is involved in terms of education as well as risk. He explained the different levels including EMT and Paramedic as well as the responsibility he now shoulders as Battalion Chief.

Battalion Chief Seigler also shared with the students his participation in the Ministry of "Builders For Christ", a group of men, women and children serving the Lord in the Mission Field of Church Construction http://www.buildersforchrist.org/. Chief Seigler has volunteered with this organization for many years now using his vacation to build Churches in different parts of the U.S.

A question/answer time followed with many excellent questions being addressed by the students. Chief's wife, Susan, former Firefighter, was introduced to the students as well.

Chief O'Neal and Minneola Firefighters joined Operation Safety 91 at New Hope Christian Academy to celebrate Thanksgiving with a huge Turkey Dinner with all the trimmins'! Students broke out into spontaneous applause as the Firefighters entered the Lunch Room. Right in the middle of dinner, the Firefighters received an alarm, so OS91 delivered their dinner right to the Fire Station.

NHCA and OS91 appreciate you, Chief and Firefighters of Minneola FD! We thank God for you this Thanksgiving. Thank you for keeping us safe!

"My church held a special service to honor our local responders on September 11th. Several companies of our fire department and some of the off duty firefighters attended the service at which I brought the message. Everyone who attended received a copy of "Psalm 91 - God's Shield of Protection," one of the Psalm 91 pocket cards and a lapel pin. Everyone was very appreciative and several of the firefighters have spoken to me privately to say how much they appreciated the service and the recognition of their efforts.

We attended the Federation of Fire Chaplains' Annual conference in Alexandria, Louisiana last month. Boxes of God's Shield of Protection were distributed to the attendees.... I have had the opportunity to distribute Psalm 91 books and cards to a number of police officers and state troopers in the course of my travels. I am also reaching out to other fire departments in our area and in surrounding counties...."

What One Youth Can Do

This story is true and all about "making a difference"!

Several months ago, Ed and I traveled to Clanton, Alabama, at the gracious invitation of the U.S. Corps of Chaplains National Commander, Chaplain Phil Burnette for their 7th Annual National Conference. God gave us some powerful Chaplain connections to reach Responders at that Convention itself, as well as at a Restaurant where twice we ate dinner! The youth on the far right (pictured above), was our waiter. Mason was extraordinary...always addressing us as "Sir" and "Ma'am". Of course, Ed and I were dressed in our Operation Safety 91 dress shirts, which soon became the topic of conversation. Mason immediately caught the cause of OS91 and got an idea. We exchanged contact info and said good-bye.

A couple of weeks later, after we returned to Florida, we reconnected with Mason and he requested the plastic Psalm 91 cards and the Psalm 91 books for Military for the local Firefighters of Clanton. Then, all on his own, with no help from us, Mason shared Operation Safety 91 with his Youth Group, "Youth Alive", and got them on board taking up donations at their High School to help us make more plastic Psalm 91 cards for Responders. The result? $286!!! Translated: that is nearly 3,000 Psalm 91 cards which will be given free to Responders all over the U.S. and Afghanistan!

It's just awesome to be used by God to help you help Military and Responders...so humbling too. "

This Veterans Day, OS91 Chaplain partner, Chaplain Fred Wilcoxson invited Ed and Mary Ganster of Operation Safety 91 to a phenomenal Dinner Concert called "America We Must Not Forget" put on by Church of the Messiah in Winter Garden, FL. This concert conducted by the extraordinarily gifted Music Minister of Church of the Messiah, Dave Gillium, was outstanding to say the least! Specially honored at at this Event were local heroes and "Home At Last" recipients, U.S. Army SPC Marcus Griffin and SSG Jeff Kelly with their devoted wives and families. Thank you to Pastor Tom Rutherford, Dave and all who do such a wonderful annual Presentation to honor our Veterans, and thank you to Chaplain Fred for the invitation. We loved every minute!

Psalm 91 Testimonies

In recent weeks as police chaplain here in Satellite Beach and pastor of Our Father's House, I've met with Responders from the 45th Space Wing USAF, the 920th Rescue Squadron, USAF, the Satellite Beach Fire Department and the Satellite Beach Police Department. ALL of these Responders wanted their men and women to have this resource.  Perhaps the most heart-warming meeting was with the chaplain of the 920th Rescue Squadron, USAF, Chaplain Matt Simpson, USAF Major. His men deploy into the hottest war zones on the planet to do rescue ops. When I placed in his hands several boxes of the military edition of Psalm 91, plus the OS91 cards, he was visibly moved. Many of his men are in harm's way on a regular basis and on deployment in Afghanistan with 12 hours on twelve hours off ready to respond to emergency rescues and evacuations as well as assist civilian casualties. He told me this story of a helicopter pilot who has been praying Psalm 91, who had a round of machine gun fire go through his cockpit right by his head...no injury and a safe return to base!!!  Hallelujah!!!
For me personally, this testimony has touched my heart the deepest. A 10 year Navy veteran in his early 30's who is part of our ministry has been battling stage 4 cancer. He has a young wife and a one year old son. We began together the Psalm 91 prayer and full on study of the promises. He has been through two major surgeries plus chemo and radiation. The whole church prayed Psalm 91 over he and his wife last month. Yesterday he was at Moffitt for new scans. PRAISE THE LORD...he is almost completely cancer free.  Most of the cancer markers are completely gone and the few remaining ones are greatly reduced...YES...no pestilence remains...diseases die...JESUS WINS!!! 

One of the things I've observed over these past few months is the fear that seems to grip the spouses of those who are deployed. We are addressing this fear head on with Psalm 91.

Testimony received by OS91: "During April 27, 2011 EF5 + Tornado, my sister, her daughter and my daughter were in Phil Campbell where my sister and I work.  We were in the vault and blessed to have been allowed to bring our children.  My daughter, 4 years old, was underneath me, I was bowed down over her (she was sleeping, thank God). During  the tornado I prayed out loud Psalms 91.  I prayed, "God, COVER ME WITH YOUR FEATHERS RIGHT NOW! I CLAIM PSALMS 91!" We were all praying. We were protected.  NOT ONE flower petal was out of place on our work property that was not even a block from disaster. My brother was in his patrol car about 1/2 a mile, right in the path of the tornado.  He was in the tornado it before he realized.  It picked him/in his patrol car up/ then put him back down - Minor damage to car.  A few weeks later, my brother was passing out your cards that said "PSALMS 91!"  I KNOW GOD HEARD MY CRIES!!!  GOD PROTECTED OUR FAMILY, AND I PRAISE GOD FOR THAT.  AFTER THE TORNADOES WERE GONE, MY BROTHER, MY SISTER AND I, AMONG OTHERS WENT OUT TO HELP AS MANY AS WE COULD.  I LIVE AND BREATHE FOR HIS GLORY, FOR THE CAUSE OF CHRIST!"

Operation Safety 91's 4th Annual Tribute to Honor America's 1st Responders was held at the Rosen Centre in Orlando on September 30th, 2011. With about 475 in attendance not only from Central Florida but also from Jacksonville, Georgia and New York, it was truly a day to remember. This year's Event specially commemorated the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, and the 343 Firefighters who died in the Twin Towers.

Tonight OS91 Founder Ed Ganster was invited to be the special guest on the American Adversaries Radio Broadcast to promote Operation Safety 91's 4th Annual Tribute to Honor America's 1st Responders coming up this Friday, September 30th at the Rosen Centre Hotel. Friends of OS91, Radio Hosts Lar Adams, Chris Hart and NostraDennis warmly welcomed us and helped promote not only the 4th Annual Tribute Event but also the UNO's DoughRaiser going on here in Central Florida until October 9 . Both Events are Fundraisers for OS91 to raise monies for plastic, credit card size Psalm 91 cards for Responders. In only 8 months by God's grace OS91 has produced and distributed 200,000 plastic Psalm 91 cards all over the U.S. as well as Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, and Southern Africa!

It was my honor and privilege today to meet Officer Jason Irwine at "Winter Garden Remembers 9/11" being held all this week in the Council Chambers at Winter Garden City Hall. Jason is an Iraq War Veteran and told me a few stories, one of which was about a little Iraqi girl, who, after some momentary shyness and timidity, presented Jason with a piece of flatbread and then gave him a hug. Jason, that day, was extremely homesick for his daughter and was touched at the Providential timing of this encounter!

I took the opportunity to give Jason, who had already received a Psalm 91 book a few months back, a Psalm 91 card, which you can see on the bottom corner of his framed medal case.

Winter Garden Remembers 9/11

Winter Garden's Remembrance of 9/11 on this 10th Anniversary memorial week began with many patriotic citizens coming today to view the tables lining the walls in Winter Garden's City Hall. This Tribute called "Remembering the Heroes", those whose lives were sacrificed on 9/11/2001, is an exhibit in the Council Chambers which will be running from Monday, 9/5 through Sunday afternoon, 9/11.

Former FDNY Jimmy Brown of Ladder 10, Tower 10, of the Twin Towers Fire Station, was interviewed by FOX News this morning in the Council Chambers and told his 9/11 survival story. Jimmy is travelling to NY tomorrow morning accompanied by Winter Garden Battalion Chief Brian Sanders and 2 Winter Garden Police to bring down a 700 lb. 16" flange I-Beam from the Twin Towers which will become a Memorial in the city limits.

Also on display are personal thoughts from Americans, civilians and non civilians: poignant, thought provoking, pain filled. This Firefighter shares why he does what he does.

New Hope Christian Academy holds a special place in the heart of Operation Safety 91's Founders, Ed and Mary Ganster, who have been on the Board of Directors for about 4 years. We have accompanied this wonderful Christian Educational Program and its founder, Mrs. Angi Pitt, and her wonderful husband, Rusty, through different and sometimes difficult seasons of growth and development. After 8 years and beginning with one student, New Hope Christian Academy was blessed to purchase a new campus, a prime piece of property in Minneola, FL, over the summer and today was the first day of school! A Flagpole which stands proudly in front of the Academy now, after over 3 years of standing bare, is proudly flying the U.S. Flag. Of course we made this an Event, inviting Minneola Mayor Pat Kelley who was represented by Vice Mayor Rick Roderick. Also attending were Minneola City Manager Mark Johnson, Minneola Fire Chief Derryl O'Neal with 3 of his Firefighters as well as Lake County Sheriff's Office LT Link.

After the Ceremony, Responders and Officials were invited in for donuts and coffee while Mrs. Angi explained the advantages of the ACE Curriculum as well as NHCA, speaking about many former students who have gone on to serve our Country and then pointing out one student present who is planning to go into the Marine Corps. Instantly, Vice Mayor Roderick who proudly served in the Marines jumped up, took off his Marine Corps lapel pin and put it on that student! It was a moment that brought tears to the eyes!

From an email to OS91: "I have been led by the Holy Spirit to approach and talk to every law enforcement officer I see in public. I walk up to them, introduce myself, thank them for their service, tell them we are praying for them and give them a plastic Psalm 91 card.

My prayer is that the officers I meet will tell others and the Word will spread. My vision is still that every law enforcement officer in this County will have an opportunity to wear and carry the God Bless America Cross and Psalm 91 card. The Wed. and Thurs. night chapel volunteers have been given a cross and card. I now wear the cross pin on my hard ID card that allows to enter the jail day or night but just passing it by the scanner. By the grace of God, to my knowledge, I am the only chaplain allowed to take a guitar into the jail.

We have been having amazing services on Wed. night. The fire of God is falling and men are falling to their knees, crying out to God for forgiveness, accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Revival fires are spreading throughout the jail. 1,000 inmates a month hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Groups are coming from all over the nation to observe our chapel, drug dorm, spiritual dorm and other programs. A number of years ago we were having 79 reports of inmate on inmate violence per month. The first 6 months of 2011 we had 3! One reason, Jesus!"

Ed and Mary Ganster have been blessed to have a neighbor who is a Purple Heart Recipient from the Vietnam War. Roberto Sanchez, a friend and helper of OS91, was greatly inspired as Ed and Mary had their Flagpole installed in early June and after their Flag Raising Ceremony on Flag Day, June 14th, decided to install a Flagpole on his beautiful property.

Operation Safety 91 attended the U.S. Army's Area IV Chaplaincy Annual Sustainment Training (CAST), June 13 - 16, 2011. This was OS91's first time as a Vendor at CAST, making available free of charge our Psalm 91 Cards to all the Chaplains who attended. The Battalion Chaplain to 5 Infantry Basic Training Companies, each on a 14 week training cycle, took back with him a box of 1,000 cards.

Today we received an email from this Chaplain with this picture attached with this request: "I could easily use 2,000 OS91 cards per quarter. Thank you for considering my request. And, thank you for your ministry!"

This is why we do what we do! Thank you to our donors and partners who help us make all this happen! "Together we can do so much more than separately!"

I went to the Post Office this morning and the cards were there. I had a little time between appointments so visited the Sheriff's office, city and county jails and the Clanton Fire Department. Out of the 2500 you sent I distributed over 300 in just those three stops. There are 4 more municipal fire departments, 14 volunteer fire departments and 3 more city police departments to visit. That does not include two ambulance companies and EMTs here as well as an Army National Guard armory.

These will be gone within two or three weeks I think, provided I can fit in all the visits that quickly. Word will spread as our responders comprise a tight knit community. Every member of every department I visited this morning wanted one. It was such a great feeling to offer something so personal. Thanks again for sending them!

Chaplain Ray Fairman, a new OS91 partner, attended the NASRO Conference here in Orlando and distributed Psalm 91 Books and OS91's Psalm 91 cards: "The books were a Godsend. We interacted favorably with over 500 individuals and placed over 450 Military books in the hands of officers as well as over 270 English Children's books and a case of the Spanish ones. Over 700 cards went home and officers were taking items back for others in their agencies. It would not surprise me if you get requests for items from officers who were present at our conference."

Operation Safety 91 has been blessed with a very special partnership with Christ Family International Church (CFI) of Port St. Lucie, FL and its Pastors Gerry and Donnelyn Khourie. Pastors Gerry and Donnelyn have been excited about OS91 since they met Ed on a Disney outing and soon invited us down to their Church in Port St. Lucie for a filming and to speak to their Congregation, whom we now consider family. Not only have they taken us in, but given generously in support of our work and the making of the Psalm 91 cards.

Last week a three year dream came true: OS91 erected a Flagpole in front of its temporary headquarters at the residence of Ed and Mary Ganster. And on Flag Day, June 14th, OS91 is raising the U.S. Flag for the first time at this location and dedicating the Flag to honor all 1st Responders. And as a Thank you to Christ Family International Church and Pastors Gerry and Donnelyn Khourie, the Flag pole will have a plaque with the words: "Gift of Christ Family International Church, Port St. Lucie, FL, June 14th 2011."

Operation Safety 91 attended Orlando Police Department's Change of Command Ceremony on June 9th at the Amway Center, making official the passing of the torch from Chief Val Demings to new Orlando Police Chief Paul Rooney. The Ceremony was outstanding and Chief Rooney's first priority is "the safety and protection of the Officers", which resonates in the heart of OS91 as well. We also want to mention our own Sr. Chaplain Andrew Wade, Founding Chaplain of OS91, who did the Invocation for the Change of Command Ceremony.

The lastest new home built by Home at Last, a special project of West Orange Habitat For Humanity, was dedicated this morning with 2 Ceremonies in Oakland, FL. Home At Last builds mortgage free, disability friendly homes for Afghanistan and Iraq Wounded Warriors, and this newest home at 19 Oakland Point Circle was gifted this morning to SGT Major Patrick Corcoran and his wife, Becky and two boys. The Flag Raising Ceremony began at 9:30 a.m. at the new home location with many attendees including the Mayor Kathy Stark of Oakland and Mayor Gary Bruhn of Windermere, many representatives from the U.S. Army, Oakland Police, Orange County Fire Rescue, Veterans, contractors, builders and suppliers who helped build the home and patriotic citizens, neighbors, family and friends.

An outstanding Patriotic Medley was performed by Todd Nichols of the Rosie O'Grady Highlanders after a wonderful introduction by all the bagpipers. Dave Gillum sung The National Anthem and gave everyone goosebumps! After remarks, awards, thanks and a powerful speech by COL Gallahue, US Army, under whom Patrick served, Patrick, then Becky spoke, recounting their life together, Patrick's deployment, injury, recovery and how they were blessed with a home from Home At Last. Finally all were treated to a Barbeque courtesy of WG VFW Post 4305.

Orange County held a very special Memorial Day Service at the Orange County War Memorial in front of the Courthouse in Orlando this morning at 10:00 a.m. This Ceremony remembered all who paid the ultimate price for our freedom, especially honoring local heroes Second LT Michael McGahan and Corporal Patrick Deans who were killed in action, whose names were unveiled by Mayor Teresa Jacobs and COL Tom Walters (Ret.) on the Memorial Wall.

A beautiful Memorial Day Ceremony was held in Ocoee this morning at the Starke Lake Gazebo next to City Hall. The keynote speaker for the Memorial Day Ceremony was Heinie Heinzelman. Mr. Heinzelman was born in Columbus, Ohio, enlisted in the Marine Corps and served on active duty from 1957 to 1960. Currently, Mr. Heinzleman volunteers his time at the Veterans Affairs Community Living Center and travels to greet troops returning home from Afghanistan. “I love my country and I love giving back to our troops and our veterans,” said Mr. Heinzleman. “The Orlando VA center is a place where America takes care of its military heroes who need our help now. The patients I have the honor and privilege of working with are from every branch of our armed forces and from every war. Being raised by depression-era WW II parents gives me first-hand knowledge of our modern, if not all-time, greatest generation.”

Ocoee Police Officer Duane Hunt performed a touching rendition of our National Anthem. Mayor Scott invited each attendee to introduce him or herself and say why they came. Veterans from several Wars plus Ocoee Police and Fire Departments gathered to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.

At the end of the Ceremony, all the attendees took a small flag and walked from the Gazebo to the Veterans Memorial where each put their flag in the ground surrounding the flowers. The Ocoee Police Honor Guard did the Flag Raising Ceremony, leaving the Flag at half mast. Thank you Mayor Scott!

This afternoon Ed and Mary met with Chaplain (LTC) Brian Ray, 143d ESC Command Chaplain at the Orlando Reserve Center. What a blessing! Chaplain Ray supervises the work of 19 unit ministry teams representing 10,000 Soldiers in 10 Southeastern States. OS91's goal is to reach as many Soldiers as possible with the help of this devoted Chaplain and his referral.

Chaplain Ray had a copy of Peggy Joyce Ruth's Psalm 91: God's Shield of Protection, and assured us that these books were getting to the Soldiers! He has joined us in our effort to get the Psalm 91 cards into Responders' hands and invited us to C.A.S.T., Chaplains Annual Sustainment Training being held at the Rosen Center in Orlando, June 13 - 16. At this Event, OS91 will be able to reach Military Chaplains from all over the Southeast. We will also be attending The Yellow Ribbon Event on June 25th.

I just wanted to share with you how much Psalm 91 has come to mean to me especially in light of the recent diagnosis. I read it almost every day and brought the book along by Peggy Joyce Ruth. It has been a real source of strength as we enter our target country and deal with my physical situation too.

In case you hadn’t heard, I had blood work done here last week. My levels had started out at 27 at the time of diagnosis, they then dropped to 17 a week after treatment started and last week were at 1.52. I know many have talked to Dad about this and He has done the miraculous. I don’t discount the medicine, but I know a drop like that had some big help.

Reading My Own Psalm 91 Book to Children at Yellow Ribbon Event

"We have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints (Soldiers) have been refreshed by you, brother & sister." Philemon Vs 7

What an incredible weekend of loving and refreshing our Soldiers. Thank you for the Psalm 91 materials and for praying for all of us as we went to San Antonio, TX for a Yellow Ribbon event with over 500 soldiers and family members. YOUR love refreshed their hearts. We were able to place close to 350 Psalm 91 books & children book into their hands, and give them a hug, prayer and listening ear. Some broke into tears and one even crumpled to the ground overcome with emotion. A simple message,"You are not alone, God loves you and people are standing in prayer with you", was the key to unlock the emotion they were holding secretly inside. John 14:18 promises "I will not leave you orphans (alone) I will come to you." Simple but staggeringly powerful. I looked into eyes this weekend of wives wondering if today is the day someone knocks on their door delivering the message that they have lost their husband. Eyes of Soldiers 30 days from deployment, on the surface strong but underneath fearful. When we were reading the "My own Psalm 91 book" in the kids session, a 5 year old boy looked up at me and quietly said, "I miss my mommy." We sat at lunch with a wife of a soldier and their 10 year old special needs son. As I watched her feed him, wipe his mouth and love him; I could not imagine what she goes through on a moment by moment basis. Her husband has been deployed for the last 6 months, currently there is no replacement unit so there is an indefinite time frame before he comes home. We prayed with a young 20 year old girl, a newlywed who's husband has been gone since August. In tears she shared "its like he is dead, not real, I battle with divorcing him, I don't know if I can make it." God touched people, encouraged people and gave them hope. Words can not express how appreciative we are that you stand with us. Lay your head on the pillow tonight knowing God is using your prayers to make a difference. It was a miracle that God sent you to (us).

Chaplain Jeff Struecker, Major, U.S. Army (Ret.) was special guest speaker last evening at 1st Baptist Church Cocoa. OS91 attended this special Event as guests of COL Danny McKnight, U.S. Army (Ret.), who was the Ranger Ground Commander of the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu memorialized in the movie and book Black Hawk Down. Chaplain Jeff, a decorated member of the U.S. Army Rangers having fought in every U.S. initiative since Panama including many tours to Iraq and Afghanistan, spoke about serving under COL McKnight during the Battle of Mogadishu and how inspired he was, since at that time in his career, COL McKnight did not have to be engaged in battle.

Chaplain Struecker spoke about his struggle to overcome fear and face death in the heat of the Battle of Mogadishu. The only way was through Jesus Christ. Peace came when he turned his life completely over to the Lord, and subsequently Jeff successfully led his men through about 8 hours of battle and back to the safety of camp. For the next 24 or so hours, Jeff was bombarded with questions from his men: "what do you have that I am missing?". It was at that point in his life that he knew he was called to serve at an even deeper level... as an Army Chaplain.

This morning Operation Safety 91 brought Minneola Fire Chaplain Steve Davids to speak to the students of New Hope Christian Academy in Minneola, FL, to educate the students about Responder Chaplaincy. Chaplain Steve is the Pastor of Children and Youth at Minneola Alliance Church www.minneolacma.com and has been the local Fire Department Chaplain along with Bob Beaver, Pastor of Minneola Alliance Church for over a year.

and asked questions about Fire Chaplaincy

Steve explained to students the role that Chaplains play in the lives of Firefighters as well as the other Responder disciplines, opening the floor to the students for questions. Steve also asked the students questions like, "How can you tell I am a Chaplain?", which led the boys and girls to look more closely at his uniform for the crosses.

While speaking, the Chaplain's beeper went off indicating there was a 911 call to Minneola Fire Department and we actually heard the sirens of the Fire engine! God has a wonderful way of making things real!

Ed then asked the students what is the hardest loss for a Firefighter to accept. In sign language, one of the students signed, "the loss of a child"...which is indeed the correct answer.

Another phenomenal answer!

When Ed asked the question, "What is the first thing you do when you hear a siren?", this student immediately knew the answer, "Pray for them and say Psalm 91!!!"

To end the presentation the students and teachers prayed Psalm 91 together with Chaplain Steve, Ed and Mary with Operation Safety 91's Psalm 91 cards. Each student and teacher was given a card compliments of OS91.

Afterwards Chaplain Steve, Ed and Mary tried visiting our friends, Chief Derryl O'Neal and all the wonderful Firefighters at Minneola Fire Department, but they were away from the station at a call. We appreciate this wonderful partnership of Minneola FD and their Chaplains, Bob Beaver and Steve Davids! Ed and Mary Ganster were privileged beyond words to be special guests of COL Danny NcKnight, USA (Ret.) and his beautiful wife, Linda, at The Warrior Beach Retreat in Panama City April 14 through 16. This very special Event is a four to five day Retreat of "give back" to wounded warriors of the Iraq, Afghanistan war. Warrior Beach Retreat, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non profit Corporation established by Linda Cope to provide a very special way to honor and respect those American heroes who have served our great nation at such a cost to themselves.

Thursday evening, Ed and Mary joined COL McKnight and Linda to be part of the 12 1/2 mile motorcade procession from the Marriott Hotel to First Baptist Church of Panama City.

Lining the streets from the Bay of Panama Beach all the way to Panama City, patriotic Americans waved flags, crying "Thank You!" to the wounded warriors in the passing cars.

Those on active duty at the Panama City Naval Base lined the perimeter of their property facing the motorcade to honor the wounded warriors passing by. There was hardly a dry eye!

A fabulous dinner was prepared by 1st Baptist for Wounded Warriors. Seated next to COL Danny McKnight was Deputy Scott Frazier of Bay County Sheriff's Office who organized pick up of all Wounded Warriors and their caregivers at the airport, helped cook the delicious steaks at this banquet and assisted with organizing the procession. Thanks, Scott!

Next, all dinner guests joined attendees of Panama City and its surroundings for an outstanding Tribute Event honoring the Wounded Warriors followed by a group picture.

OS91 honors the businesses and business owners of Panama City and the City of Panama Beach for their participation in this wonderful semi-annual Event. Everything is free for the wounded warriors and their caregivers and the other participants: all meals at Restaurants in these cities, plus golf and spa treatments. Linda Cope's vision is "to see communities from all over the USA come together to host military soldiers and their families affected by (this) war."

Testimony from an OS91 Partner

We gave all of the books that you sent me before to at least 1/3 of the department Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (150 people), about 10 people from Hillsborough County Sherriff Office, 4 people from Pasco County Fire Rescue, 3 people from Tampa Fire Rescue, 5 people from American Medical Response, about 8 nurses from some local Emergency Rooms hospitals. A few Pastors from some local churches to give to their emergency workers (About 6 churches), We work with a local ministry that ministers to Spanish people that work at farms (Spanish books are awesome for this). The ministry is call Meet The Need. Here is their website www.meettheneed.org. We sent some military edition books to soldiers that are station in Fort Jackson South Carolina. We have a firefighter that joined the ARMY and is our contact over there. As you can see the books are a blessing and is helping us spread the Gospel when we give them the books. Thank you very much. Just wanted to share with you that I just returned from Capitol Hill advocating through CIPAC for the Biblical land of Israel with great success. But as I walked the corridors of power I saw so many of our service men and women, and police officers and firemen. I had in my pocket the Psalm 91 cards and when the timing was right I would stop and introduce myself as a minister reaching out to those on the front lines.

Col., Lt.Col. etc…were so humbly gracious to me and with great soberness received the cards and blessing I gave them. I met Marines, Navy, Army, Air Force from all over the U.S.

What a joy to deposit the Words of life into our military in this hour!

Chaplain updates OS91 on Psalm 91 Book and Card Distribution in Prison

I wanted to share an update. I was able to pass out almost all of the books/blessings your ministry so graciously sent to CIW. 179 to the SPHU unit which houses up to 64 Administrative Segregation lockups who are locked in 23 of 24 hours, seven days a week in 8x10 cells with 2 steel bunks, a toilet/sink, and a shelf/desk. The other part of the unit houses inmates who have just been "received" at the facility but can't fit in the RC so they go to SPHU as "overflow". They are awaiting transfer or classification to another prison. Each woman received a Psalm 91 book, and 2 others. 60 to SCU which is the Special Care Unit. Each woman received a Psalm 91 book, and 2 others.

I have more to distribute but it does take a number of hours to do this, so I am plodding through as time permits. The women were so excited and happy to receive the gifts from your ministry outreach. They wanted to make sure I let you know what a blessing the books were and will continue to be!

The Psalm 91 business cards were gone in a flash! I put some out during a special event and hundreds of women enjoyed the card. I quickly ran out after trying to deliver them to the units too.

We are working on a plan to distribute the Officer's cards and books as they enter/exit the facility during a shift change. All of your work has been a great blessing to the facility!

OS91 Founders Ed and Mary were honored with a visit from Sculptress Brenda Angel, Founder of Sculpt America, whose Mission it is to fill our Nation with images from God's Word. The image of our crucified Christ superimposed on the U.S. Flag is one that was given to Brenda in a dream and told to sculpt. At that point in time, Brenda had actually been thrown out of an Art Class, being told that she had no talent.

Brenda is currently sculpting 4 life-size pieces: 3 Police Officers and 1 Police working dog for the Police Honor Guard of Broward County, FL, Inc., for the Broward County Law Enforcement Memorial at Markham Park in Sunrise, FL. The unveiling will be May of 2012. Brenda is now in consideration to sculpt the life-size images for the 9-11 Memorial for the City of Miramar and the Miramar Fire Department.

OS91 attended "For Those Who Served" Topping Out Celebration

The final beam was lifted and put into place this afternoon on the Orlando VA Medical Center amid the cheers of Civic Officials, Veterans, Military, Construction Staff, Medical Staff and patriotic citizens and groups. Before the very well attended 1:00 p.m. Ceremony under a Tent, all were invited to sign the final I-beam to be lifted into place. OS91 Founders Ed and Mary took the opportunity to place a plastic Psalm 91 Card to the I-beam thanks to one of the Construction directors, who most graciously put it in place.

Marines Return Home

Cheers, tears and hugs for our Troops!

Last night 2 buses filled with about 50 Marine Reservists arrived back from Afghanistan into Orlando. The Direct Support Motor Transport Company A11 (Alpha one one) from the Military Reserve Center normally would have been gone for 6 months but ended up serving about 10 months. The "Welcome Home" crowd gathering at The Armed Forces Reserve Center in Orlando consisted of families of these heroes, as well as patriotic citizens, The Vietnam Brotherhood, and OS91 supporters and partners Mayor Scott Vandergrift of Ocoee, Chaplain Kathie DiCesare of the Nam Knights, Vickie DiGiovanni of Blue Star Moms and Cathy Haynes of Daughters of the American Revolution, who did so much to get word out about the last minute arrival of these Heroes.

Marines coming home to Orlando

All Points Bulletin! Spread the word! There are about 50 Marine Reservists arriving back from Afghanistan into Orlando tomorrow (Thurs.) or on Friday. The Direct Support Motor Transport Company A11 (Alpha one one) from the Military Reserve Center normally would have been gone for 6 months but ended up serving abt 10 months. The time of arrival and method of transportation is still being arranged from where they currently are located in North Carolina. Ideally they would like to arrive as a group at one time instead of being staggered out...but hey, we know how things work out with the military sometimes!!! These Marines have had some particularly rough times - providing transportation of things with frequent hazards of IED (improvised explosive devices) and deserve a nice, big WELCOME HOME!

If you want to be a part of their Welcome Home, let me know ASAP so that you will be notified as soon as the local command and I know. The site will be the Reserve Center off Tradeport Drive near the Orlando Int'l Airport OR the airport itself. Time has yet to be determined. We want to form a communication tree - Spread the word, let folks know that local warriors are coming home! Plan to bring your flags, cookies, welcome signs and hugs!

Patriotic citizens of Ocoee and the surrounding area gathered today with Civic Officials, Responders, Veterans, The Patriot Riders and others to welcome the historic 9/11 Flag to Ocoee. In a very touching Ceremony, local heroes nominated by others had the honor to sew a stitch in the Flag that was destroyed in the collapse of the World Trade Center. This Event is part of the 50 State National 9/11 Flag Tour by the New York Says Thank You Foundation.
